When an article is updated, are the embeddings automatically updated?

This is an FAQ answer for the SmartSearchWP chatGPT plugin for WordPress.

In the free version, no: embeddings are not updated automatically when content is modified.

In the list of contexts, modified content is flagged with a colour code. You can also filter the view to show only content that is out of date.

You then need to regenerate the embeddings for this content manually (possibly in batches). This choice was made so as not to consume OpenAI API tokens unnecessarily, and therefore to limit your costs.

With the Premium RAG Auto Sync add-on, yes: embeddings of active content are regenerated automatically after each modification. The add-on asks for confirmation before enabling this automation, because each regeneration uses OpenAI credits.
