Step 1 Download and install the SmartSearchWP plugin
- Access the dashboard of your WordPress site.
- Navigate to the “Plugins” section and click on “Add new”.
- In the search bar, type “SmartSearchWP” to quickly locate the plugin in the WordPress directory.
- Once you’ve found it, click on “Install now” next to SmartSearchWP, then activate it by selecting “Activate”.
Step 2 Setting up SmartSearchWP
- Access SmartSearchWP’s general settings: In your WordPress dashboard, search for SmartSearchWP in the side menu, then click on it to access its settings.
- Add an OpenAI API key:
- Create an OpenAI account if you haven’t already, and generate an API key.
- Enter this API key in the SmartSearchWP parameters.
- Choose ChatGPT model: Select between ChatGPT 3.5 turbo or ChatGPT 4 according to your preference or OPENAI subscription.
- Customizing the chatbot:
- Give your chatbot a name.
- Customize the chatbot’s logo.
- Adjust parameters such as temperature, number of contexts, similarity threshold, and accuracy threshold to define ChatGPT AI behavior.
- Configure reports: Activate activity reports to receive regular reports on user discussions and interactions with the chatbot.
Step 3 Configure search contexts
Define the pages to be included:
- In the “Contexts” section, select the pages you want the chatbot to use to generate its responses.
- Click on “Generate integrations” to include these pages in the search context.
- Enable these pages to be part of the active content for ChatGPT responses.
Step 4 Test and adjust
- Run test searches: Test several conversational searches to evaluate the accuracy of results and the user experience.
- Adjust settings if necessary: Based on your test results, return to SmartSearchWP settings to make any necessary adjustments.
- Once you’re happy with your configuration, don’t forget to save your changes.
The chatbot will then be up and running on your site, ready to interact with your visitors using ChatGPT’s artificial intelligence.
