Where is the information stored?

The data the chatGPT SmartSearchWP chatbot relies on, i.e. your content and its embeddings, is stored on your hosting, in the WordPress database.

To work, SmartSearchWP does however send text to the OpenAI API: your content when the embeddings are generated, then, for each answer, the visitor’s question and the excerpts of your content selected to answer it. See Is my site’s content sent to OpenAI to create the embeddings?

OpenAI may keep these requests for up to 30 days in its abuse monitoring logs, and does not use them to train its models unless you agree to it: Does Open Ai retain the content of requests sent?
