This is an FAQ entry for the WordPress chatGPT SmartSearchWP plugin.
SmartSearchWP responds in the language of the visitor’s question, relying solely on the content indexed in the Contexts (RAG).
Monolingual website #
The chatbot responds in the language of the question, even if your content is in a different language: it draws on your content and rephrases it in the visitor’s language. Sometimes it responds in the language of your content, especially for very short questions (“pricing,” “hello”). To prevent this, reinforce the instruction using the Prompt Override add-on, for example: “Always respond in the language of the question, even if the context is in a different language.”
Multilingual website #
Using WPML, Polylang, or a similar plugin, index the pages by language in Contexts (Training AI, then Activate). The bot can then respond based on the content in the language that matches the question.
Chatbot Interface #
The welcome message and the text in the tooltip can be configured by language in SmartSearchWP > General Settings.
